Key points

  • Many uncommon adnexal tumors have been described only sporadically.

  • Arborizing telangiectasias are common in adnexal tumors.

  • Adnexal tumors are usually mimickers of basal cell carcinomas.

  • Yellow structures are very suggestive of sebaceous tumors.

  • Sweat gland tumors usually display great dermoscopic variability.

Dermoscopy of sebaceous tumors

Sebaceous tumors are traditionally classified as sebaceous nevus, sebaceous hyperplasia, sebaceous adenoma, sebaceoma, and sebaceous carcinoma.

Dermoscopy of follicular tumors

Follicular tumors encompass a large and heterogeneous group of neoplasms. In this article, we emphasize those that have dermoscopic description.

Apocrine Hidrocystomas

Apocrine hidrocystomas are benign, cystic lesions of apocrine sweat glands, usually found on the head and neck. They present as an intradermal translucent nodule.60 Dermoscopy of apocrine hidrocystomas was studied by Zaballos and colleagues61 in 22 lesions, and they observed in all cases a central homogeneous area, translucent to opaque, which occupied the whole lesion. That area was skin-colored (31.8%), yellowish (31.8%), blue (22.7%), or less frequently pinkish-blue or gray. There were also
